Tauranga Bay Of Plenty
Tauranga is the largest city in the Bay of Plenty. The Bay offers a great quality of life to residents, so it’s no wonder properties here are always in demand. The Bay stretches out for 259 kilometres and was named as such by Captain James Cook during his journey around New Zealand in 1796. He referred to it as the “Bay of Plenty” after noticing that the Māori villages there had an abundance of food and never seemed to want for anything. It was a stark contrast to the rest of the country. At least, it was for him.
Whenever you think about Tauranga, no doubt you think of the natural beauty and scenery of the region. Tauranga is home to some of the most stunning and popular beaches in all of New Zealand, and the harbour environments are known to people across the country, if not the world.
There’s a lot to see and do in Tauranga, from the nature of McLaren Falls Park to the shopping opportunities in downtown Tauranga. Take a short trip across the Tauranga Harbour Bridge to reach Mount Manganui. Stay on the beach at the foot of the mountain or climb up for a thrill. No matter your idea of outdoor fun, you can find it in Tauranga.
